Vineyard Notes:

Bechthold Vineyard, Lodi CA – Home to 25 acres of Cinsault, planted in 1886, making it the oldest Cinsault vineyard in the world. The ancient Cinsault vines are planted in sandy soils, which is how the vines survived the Phylloxera epidemic that devasted the California wine industry. One side of the vineyard is bordered by a cement water canal that slowly seeps water into the soil. The vines closest to the canal have a larger crop due to the underground water source from the canal. Instead of trying to make red wine from this section, we make Rosé, and it’s fantastic!

Vintification:

The Rosé is made from Cinsault harvested specifically for Rosé, no saignee in 2022. We whole cluster press and protect the delicious juice with lots of dry ice during processing. The juice is fermented in stainless steel barrels and aged on the lees for 6 months to enhance the rich mouthfeel of our Rosé.
