Creating Onesta has been a whirlwind adventure for me. The company started with a thought while lying in bed one morning asking myself, “What is the most important aspect of life for me?” The answer came surprisingly easy, truth and honesty with myself and others. Truth wines was already taken so I searched for truth and honesty in other languages. Onesta popped up and I immediately fell in love with it. “Onesta”, it rolls off the tongue like a melody resonating through the air, yet anchored with the weight of gumption. At that moment lying in bed alone, the immaculate conception of Onesta happened. March 25th, 2012.
Since then, Onesta has been a fast growing embryo taking physical form. Business plans, label and logo design, winemaking decisions, paperwork for permits, web design, and the list keeps going. It is awesome and powerful. I will be bottling my first wine on August 31st, my 2011 Bechthold Vineyard Cinsault (released in October 2012). So, this means Onesta’s birthday will be August 31st each year, a perfect time of year for an annual celebration with her friends and family!
